East Frisia
If we leave the Netherlands in easterly direction, we find Grawert’s in the towns of Norden and Emden, in the German part of Frisia.
Werner Gragert writes about Hindrick Grawert , died 12.01.1550 in Emden, 1525 writer for the Duke, 1532 Secretary to the Duke, 1535-1550 Drost and Magistrate, 1540-1550 Mayor of Emden and adviser to the duchess Anna. His fathers name was Rotger Grawert.
Similar Sigrid Krijger de Grave: Grawert was probably born in Norden, but his family came from the Netherlands.
He had a brother Erne Goldschmidt who was the mayor of Norden.
Eger Houwerda from Uphusen/Wolthusen (today suburbs of Emden) married Taetke Grawert the daughter of the mayor of Emden.
Eweler Grawert, another of his daughters, married Ewo Alberda van Jegum. They had four children, one of them was Albrecht von Jergum zu Eickel.
As his daughter married in 1530, Hinrich Grawert must have been born about 1480.
His third daughter Eltinchem married Theso Clant.
Hinrich Grawert was married a second time to a Johanne ???.
With her he had three sons: Johann, Peter and Rotger.
Johann married Josinam von Bronchorst and they had three children:
Anna married Bole Bolardus.
Hinricus Bronchorst Grawert died as a child in 1587. His body lies in the church of Uphusen with the inscription:
“Hic jacet Hinricus Bronchorst infansq Grawer”.
Johann Bronchorst Grawers (died approx. 1616).
Otto Knotternus: “Searching for Gods realm”:
Of the officials we name Hinrich Grawert who, as the mayor of Emden, supported the Menisten. Menisten were Dutch Baptists who had to leave their country possibly because of religios persecution.
He also visited the town of Steenwijk near Groningen in the Netherlands.
All this supports, that he had a Dutch background.
